Jolie quote: “I travelled to Africa with Dr Jeffery Sachs, the world’s leading expert on extreme poverty.” Well, he should know he’s created enough of it in Russia, Bolivia and elsewhere with his so called “shock therapy.” This has caused untold suffering, and the fact that the likes of Jolie endorse him (and the CFR) is a demonstration of how uninformed she is. Her heart may be in the right place but she’s playing the part of a useful idiot associating herself with him.
@truevoice08 The poverty in the United States cannot be solved through government intervention in form of redistributive policies, the only result from that is perpetual poverty. Take my own Country Norway for example, our government decided to end poverty by expanding social wellfare, the result was more poverty. Why? Because availability increases demand. If you want to solve US poverty you need less restriction and regulation of the market, you want to abolish most licenses for example.
Hey, do you know any online sources where I can find sort of documentation about how bad all these European Nanny States are? It’s annoying that socialists always like to point out to countries like Norway as irrefutable evidence that socialism ‘works’ even though praxeology proves it will collapse in the long run. I am getting nauseated with Hollywood stars controlling the discussion of foreign aid (whether Jolie or Bono). Please give credibility to people who have the expertise, not stars who use it as a way to improve their ratings.
@Galanin22 but the people with expertise are usually or never smoking hot babes. Whats wrong with Angelina Jolie using her spare time to promote her ideas? The only problem I have with hollywood stars is when they complain to normal wage earners for not buying expensive electic cars and stuff.
