Silverbud is right. In fact, there could be other spaces to show in depth the wonderful and rich Catalan culture and identity. This light Hollywood movie has its own merits (I particularly liked very much the script and the story). It did a decent job at least presenting Barcelona as an interesting and beautiful city. In most cases Hollywood’s cultural and racial stereotyping is horrific!

Scarlett Johansson is very beautiful, but I hate when she uses too much make-up.

Good point! But Hollywood is rarely accurate. We can be happy that Americans know that Barcelona is in Spain! And if they knew about regional identity conflicts in other countries, they would think of terrorists and send tanks! ;-)

Well you’re right, thank goodness they know that much, but I think you’re confusing Barcelona for Bilbao, the area in Spain famous for their very small group of terrorists is Navarre. Unless I misunderstood your comment (which is very possible).

I referred to the interesting revelations of *Macrute* that the film concealed the catalonian identity and language and the ridiculous use of andalusian music which is a cliche on Spain. Catalonian people had to my knowledge much to suffer from dictator Franco who supressed their culture. The remark about terrorists was an ironical one. Whenever someone likes an uprise, he calls the people liberators or fighters for freedom, if he is against it, he calls them terrorists.
