Jessica Ann Simpson was born on July 10, 1980. She rose to fame during the late 90’s when her music earned popularity. A decade later, her celebrity status underwent a resurgence thanks in large part to her MTV reality show, Newlyweds, which she starred in along with her then-husband Nick Lachey. With her status rising, Simpson not only saw her album sales go up, but was also able to release her own signature line of beauty products, Dessert Beauty and Dessert Treat, in addition to starting a career as an actress.

Simpson was born and raised in Texas, began singing at a very young age as a part of her church choir. Her father is Joe Simpson, a former Baptist youth minister, and her sister is Ashlee Simpson, whose music career took off in the middle of 2004. When she was 12, she made an unsuccessful bid to join The New Mick Mouse Club, which was comprised of several rising stars, including Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. Impressed by Simpson’s singing performance at a church camp, an executive of a small contemporary Christian record label offered Simpson a record deal, which had her for a period of three years, in a studio recording her first album. Due to the label’s insolvency, the record was never released. Simpson missed her senior year of high school to tour with the Christian Youth Conference circuit and to promote her demo album, funded by her grandmother. After her performances, Simpson and her father sold copies of her album, which would eventually wind up in the hands of Tommy Mottola of Columbia Records, who would ultimately give her a record deal and a chance to achieve mainstream commercial success.

In late 1999, Simpson’s debut album, Sweet Kisses, hit stores debuting at #25 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart, while penetrating the top 40 of UK album charts. Thanks to hit singles like, “I Wanna Love You Forever,” “Where You Are,” and “I Think I’m in Love with You,” the album would go on to sell two million units in the U.S. Two years later, in the summer of 2001, Simpson would release her sophomore album, Irresistible. The album, which included top twenty his single, “Irresistible” would reach the Billboard 200’s top ten, an improvement over her first album’s debut. However, the album was a bit of a letdown in terms of commercial success compared to her first album, selling 500,000 copies in the U.S. The following year, Columbia Records would release an EP remix album, This Is the Remix; a compilation of electro-dance remixes of Simpson’s hit singles. The album would go on to sell only 28,000 copies.

Early in her career, Simpson said that she was saving her virginity until she was married, though that claim has not been fully trusted by the general public. She married Nick Lachey, the former frontman for the pop band 98 Degrees, in late 2002. The couple’s life was made into an MTV reality show, Newlyweds, which was relatively popular. In 2004, Simpson would also appear on a variety show with Lachey on ABC, called the Nick and Jessica Variety Hour. That same year, Simpson would take home three Teen Choice Award for Hottie Female, Female Fashion Icon, as well as Female Reality/Variety TV Star for Newlyweds. Simpson’s third album, In This Skin, released in 2003 at the time of Newlyweds premiere, did not make a huge splash on music charts. However, thanks to the popularity of Newlyweds, the album’s special collector’s edition released in the following year, debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and the top 40 of UK charts. The album, which included hit single, “With You,” would go on to become her most commercially successful album, selling close to three million copies in the U.S.

During the holiday season of 2004, Simpson released a holiday album, ReJoyce: The Christmas Album, which would climb to #14 on U.S. charts. In the following year, Simpson debuted her acting skills playing Daisy Duke in The Dukes of Hazzard, a film would open at the top of the U.S. box-office chart with a gross of 30 million plus. In November 2005, after months of speculation and rumor, Simpson and Lachey would officially announce their split. Simpson filed for divorce in December of 2005, citing “irreconcilable differences.”

Simpson is currently set to release a new album in August of 2006 entitled A Public Affair. Her next single, “A Public Affair” will hit airwaves on June 23, 2006 and a music video for the song is scheduled to be released on June 30, 2006. Simpson will also continue to pursue her acting career, starring in her second film, Employee of the Month. She also reportedly has won the role of “Emily Benjamin” in Major Movie Star, and will also appear in the big screen adaptation of Dallas.

Freckled beauty Lindsay Lohan started as a child star grazing Hollywood’s film and movies, being a household name throughout America and a teen idol of her generation.

Born Lindsay Dee Lohan (whom later changed her middle name to Morgan) she is the first-born to Michael and Dina Lohan. In her tender age of three, she was signed in Ford Modeling Agency as a model. She did modeling for brands such as Abercrombrie and Fitch, Gap and Calvin Klein not to mention her ads for Pizza Hut, Wendy’s and Jell-O commercials with funny man Bill Cosby. By that time she did almost 60 commercials until she landed her first TV stint in Another World as she stayed for a year.

She swept Disney fans as she is casted in the 1961 remake of this family comedy Parent Trap portraying twins Hallie and Annie. The movie was again a huge success making her won Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress for 1999. Due to that Disney made her sign a three-year contract for TV. In that time-span, she appeared in Life-Size with Tyra Banks, Bette and Get a Clue.

By that time, she took a break and fulfilled her singing career. She signed a five-album deal with music genius Emillio Estefan Jr. under his Estefan Enterprises. She released her first single Rumors from her debut album Speak. During the success of her single in the charts comes another movie remake Freaky Fridaywith Jamie Lee Curtis. Her portrayal of a teenager switching bodies with her mom make her won Breakthrough Female in 2003 MTV Movie Awards.

Her first starring movie Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen isn’t a success in the box-office good thing she was casted for the film Mean Girls with Rachel McAdams. The film hitting theaters as well as ticket sales marked her as one of the bankable actress of that time. Aside from her box-office fame, she also topped the tabloid headlines for her unstoppable partying, high-profiled men such as Wilmer Valderama, Aaron Carter, Bruce Willis and Jared Leto adding up her beefing with other young stars.

Amidst this controversies under name, she manage not to affect it in her work as an actress. In fact, Disney movie Herbie: Fully Loaded did great at the box-office. Two other movies followed suddenly Gossip Girl and Fashionistas before graduating from her teeny-bopper movies. She starred in A Prairie Home Companion along with Tommy Lee Jones, Meryl Streep and Lily Tomlin as a poetess who writes about suicide.

Due to her exhaustion, she was hospitalized making her movie Georgia Rule late in production. She co-stars with Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman. Along with her films broke the news that she was attending meetings for Alcoholics Anonymous for extensive drinking. She spend months in the rehab then she came back for the filming of I Know Who Killed Me.

After this movie, she took part in biopic Chapter 27 but just like her former two movies, this flopped at the box-office. Another downfall moment happened as she was arrested in two DUI cases within that two months. As of press time, she and her estranged father reunited for several years that broke the huge gap between them. She is also set to stand in court hearings over that vehicular accident sued by Ramundo Ortega.

Holy smoke, she’s gone country! Maybe it’s because she’s been hanging around with that Cowboy, you know, Tony Romo. Whatever the reason, it turned out to be a good move for Jessica Simpson, the former pop princess whose new CD “Do You Know” debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s country charts the week of Sept. 9.

That same week, it became the No. 1 title on iTunes for all genres. And the CD’s breakout single, “Come On Over,” made chart history by becoming the first debut country single by a solo artist to break the top-50 at No. 41. Not bad for a gal whose critics predicted she was doomed for failure on Music Row.

Back in Los Angeles after a quick trip to Las Vegas to perform for a charity event, the Texas-born beauty offered some insights about her incredible yet sometimes unstable road to Nashville.

“To belong in this world, you have to belong to yourself first,” said Simpson. “That’s what Nashville has meant for me. “I’ve always believed if you stay true to your heart the choices you make will end up being the right ones. I’m in the most comfortable place I’ve ever been and the smile on my face couldn’t be more genuine.”

Like many of the country greats she admires — Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson, included — Simpson started out singing in her church choir. Her father, Joe Simpson, was a Baptist minister and Jessica said he exposed her to a lot of gospel music.

As a pre-teen, she grew tired of choral singing and began to pursue her dream of fame and fortune in the music business. Along with competing in local dance and vocal competitions, she also auditioned for the “New Mickey Mouse Club” at the age of 12. Simpson admits to being heartbroken when she received a letter from Disney saying she hadn’t made it.

The rejection was especiallydisappointing because so many of her peers were accepted: Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell.

“Rejection is a great thing,” said Simpson. “It allows you to be alone and figure things out.”

Despite her disappointment, Simpson bounced back quickly when she was invited to contribute to an album recorded by a gospel choir in New Jersey. That project led to Simpson recording her first solo gospel album, which she said her grandmother paid to have duplicated. It didn’t take long for the CD to catch the ear of Columbia Record’s music executive Tommy Mottola, who signed her to a recording contract in 1999.

Simpson’s debut CD, “Sweet Kisses,” produced the smash single “I Wanna Love You Forever,” launching her to international fame. Her follow-up CD in 2001, “Irresistible,” debuted at No. 6 on theBillboard 200Album Chart and produced the hit single of the same title.

During the recording of her third CD in 2003, “In This Skin,” Simpson’s personal life began to unravel. Suddenly, she found herself more famous for her marital troubles to pop singer Nick Lachey than her music. The public got an up-close-and-personal look at the couple’s rocky private life on the wildly popular reality show, “Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica.”

Simpson said the program, which ran for 41 episodes until March 30, 2003, painted an inaccurate portrait of her as a ditzy, dimwitted and selfish person. That not only damaged her self-esteem but also led to the breakup of her marriage to Lachey, former member of the boy band 98 Degrees. The pair divorced in 2005.

These days, Simpson’s feeling much stronger.

“I’ve sworn off all the haters,” said Simpson. “My computer is turned off and I mostly read my fan mail to encourage myself. And my faith has given me strength. Without it, I’d have given up a long time ago.”

As Simpson began to heal from her divorce and an onslaught of public criticism, she realized it was time to return to making her beloved music. And she became more determined than ever to prove herself as a recording artist capable of leaving behind a legacy.

So she left the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles and headed back to Nashville in 2007 to do what she wanted to do all along – write and record country music. Her label, Epic/Columbia Nashville, hooked her up with a team of writers and 12 songs for “Do You Know” began to take shape.

The result was a contemporary mixture of country tunes centered around her experiences with life and love. Among the tracks are “Remember That,” “Pray Out Loud,” “When I Loved You Like That” and “Do You Know,” which was written by legendary singer/songwriter Dolly Parton.

“Dolly is a remarkable human being,” said Simpson. “She’s the kind of person that when you go to sleep at night you believe she might be saying a prayer for you. That’s the kind of person I want to be to the people I know.”

With the success of her new CD and her restored confidence, Simpson said she has finally found peace on her journey. And regardless of obstacles and a few remaining naysayers, she knows her life and her career hold exciting and endless possibilities.

“No matter how successful the record is in the world, it will always be successful to me because it has allowed me to follow my heart’s desire,” said Simpson. “I really believe what I’m singing about and I love what I’m doing. Yes, it’s all highlighted by the world’s perspective but if I stay humble and true to who I am, the best is yet to come.”
