This is a great example of residual income in real life. I was reading a newspaper on the train home from work tonight when I saw an article about Britney Spears and what she earns on average every month. Since her split to Kevin Federline, she has had to reveal her income to the Courts. The following is an extract from the newspaper article:

”Britney Spears is raking in £370,000 a month – more than £4million a year – despite not having had a hit song for three years. The troubled star’s last success was her 2004 Greatest Hits album and her last UK No 1 was Everytime in the same year.

Spears continued earnings power, from royalties, interest on her £65million fortune and income from her perfumes Curious and Fantasy, was revealed in court documents filed in her battle against ex-husband Kevin Federline for custody of their two children. The papers show that she still forks out £10,000 a month to K-Fed, even though they split last year.”

What really got my attention about this article had nothing to do with either Britney Spears or Kevin Federline, as frankly I don’t really care about the daily lives of celebrities, but it was the £370,000 a month residual income that Britney earns.

Britney has not had a hit song for three years, yet she is still making £370,000 a month! Do you think she works 09:00 to 17:00 like most employees? Not likely and if you’ve been keeping an eye on the papers you’d have noticed that she has in fact been here there and everywhere partying it up. How is it then that she is making so much money every month yet she is not working?

That my friends, is Residual Income!

Britney is being paid month after month for work she has done once! For each of her hit songs she receives royalties. She earns interest on her amassed fortune and returns on any investments and she has been clever enough (or her agents/managers have) to profit from her own brand and sell perfume.

Can only celebrities earn residual income? Nope, anybody can!

Obviously we can’t all go out there and release a chart topping song, but we can all increase our residual incomes, slowly at first but eventually, there is no reason why each one of us can’t be earning the same, if not more than Britney. There are a number of ways we can do this:

Start your own business – leverage off the efforts of other people.

Real Estate Investment – Leverage off other people’s money as they pay off your mortgage.

Buy Assets – leverage off the growth of shares, property, special minerals etc.

It’s not going to be easy to start off with, and there will be a steep learning curve, but once you master these abilities, you will benefit by being paid month after month for work you have done once – Financial Freedom!

After many tumultuous events in her life, American pop princess Britney Spears is now back on her toes to continue her glittering career and leave her experiences behind. In a recent interview, Spears who rose to fame at such young age admitted her past mistakes and revealed she already learned from it.

Spears said after what happened in her life she is very grateful that the world is giving her a second chance to continue with her career amidst the controversies she faced in life. “A lot of people thought I wouldn’t make it. People thought I was finished, didn’t they?” Britney said. The pop princess said now that the storm had finally stopped she had already matured and is now happy and contented with her life.

“I’m not sad any more”, the pop princess said.

She said her family especially her parents and her two young boys were the ones that inspired her to get back to her bearing and moved on from the bad things that happen in her life. Spears cited the efforts of her father to bring her back to her senses as one of the factors that brought her back to the mainstream of the entertainment industry. Aside from her family and kids, one man that makes Spears happy these days is her reported boyfriend and agent Jason Trawick.

In many various occasions, the two were seen showing each other affection the latest of whom was in Bahamas where the couple and Spear’s children had a brief getaway. The close relationship of the two even fuelled persistent reports that they will soon tie the knot. However, a close associate of Spears deny such rumors saying the reported 2009 December wedding of the two are not true.

The associate who refused to be name said that although the two love each other dearly they have no plans yet to get married soon. If indeed the two will enter the sacrament of matrimony, it would be the third time that the pop princess will be married. Spears was previously married to childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander on January 3, 2004, at The Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas.

The marriage lasted 55 hours, ending with an annulment stating that Spears “lacked understanding of her actions to the extent that she was incapable of agreeing to marriage because before entering into the marriage the Plaintiff and Defendant did not know each others’ likes and dislikes, each others’ desires to have or not have children, and each other’s desires as to State of residency.

In July 2004, Spears announced her engagement to Kevin Federline, three months after they met. Federline had recently been in a relationship with actress Shar Jackson, who was eight months pregnant with their second child. These initial stages were chronicled in Spears’s first reality show Britney & Kevin: Chaotic, which aired on UPN in May and June 2005.

On the night of September 18, Spears married Federline in a surprise, non-denominational ceremony at a residence in Studio City, California, filing legal papers on October 6.  After the marriage, Spears announced via her website that she would be taking another career break to start a family. She gave birth to her first child, Sean Preston Federline, nearly one year later, on September 14, 2005 in Santa Monica, California by a scheduled caesarean section.
